Competitions

Washington State Science & Engineering Fair (WSSEF)
At the 2025 Washington State Science & Engineering Fair, WaPrep students earned 3 First Place and 5 Third Place awards — competing against students from schools across the entire state.
These results reflect more than strong research. They reflect years of persistence, refinement, and growth. For a school our size to place this consistently against Washington's public and private schools is something we're genuinely proud of.
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
WaPrep 11th grader Liona Zhang earned a Gold Key Award — Scholastic Arts' highest regional honor — for her digital artwork "Samsara." The piece was inspired by a recurring dream exploring the cycle of life.
Liona's recognition is a reminder that WaPrep students bring the same depth of thinking to their creative work as they do to their academics.

American Mathematics Competition (AMC)
WaPrep students delivered standout results at this year's AMC, placing in the top percentiles nationally across both the AMC 10 and AMC 12.
In the AMC 12, Max Zhang, Davis Wang, and Youya Wang took the top three school spots, all scoring in the top 25% nationally. Max Zhang ranked further among the top 5% of all test takers nationwide. In the AMC 10, Brian Ni, Violet Dan, and Aarya Murali tied for top school honors.
British Physics Olympiad (BPhO)
The British Physics Olympiad is administered by the Physics Department at the University of Oxford and is one of the most prestigious international physics competitions available to high school students.
Youya Wang sat the exam in 2023 and was awarded Top Gold, the highest possible mark, placing her in the top 5.9% of 3,137 students worldwide. Davis Wang sat the exam in 2025 and earned Bronze I, placing in the top 23.8% of 1,738 competitors globally.
